In 2010 multiple deployments had become routine for many military personnel.  The Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts affected some 2 million youth and their families.  No one wanted to acknowledge the impact deployments had on families and communities. 

“In the Name of the Children” follows two advocates and their efforts to honor those military families who endured deployments and personal sacrifices on a daily basis.  The producers George Addison and Eric Hicks set out to “Celebrate Freedom” and honor service members and their families by hosting a day of music along with the presentation of the play entitled  “Tell Me What Courage Is” which examined issues facing military dependent youth.

George and Eric used the event to create greater public awareness and educate citizens about the overall impact of deployments on military dependent youth.  The challenges they encountered along the way proved to be surprising and memorable.  In the end a community came together and used a day of celebration to honor life and to support one another.
